Avantt was initially created as a bespoke typeface for the signage and brand at Bubenská 1, a newly reconstructed office building in Prague. Architects, Adolf Benš and Josef Kříž, designed this building in a functionalist style between 1927 and 1935. This typeface takes inspiration from architectural principles and historical sources, such as the works of Ladislav Sutnar, Adolf Loos, and the Bauhaus movement. Avantt, the new retail version, slightly differs from the bespoke original, but still has the essential character.
